1. Go for the good stuff. When you’re hungry and only have 30 minutes between point A to point B, that burger joint down the road looks mighty convenient. If you have to stop at a fast food chain, choose places with healthier options like salads, grilled chicken, and fresh fruit.

2. Be prepared. Planning ahead is the key to quick healthy eating. Stock up your car with water and healthy snacks for the road to save time at the drive-thru for other things on your list.

3. Make the supermarket your friend. Instead of pulling into a fast food chain, consider the local supermarket. You go there to buy food for home anyway, so why not grab ingredients for a lunch or snack? Many grocery stores also have deli and sushi sections that package your to-go meal for you. You can pick up fruits, veggies, salads, grilled chicken, and many other healthy options.

4. Hold off from sugary drinks. Sodas, teas, juices, and even smoothies are often loaded with sugar and/or caffeine. Don’t ruin your meal with these nasties! Get water instead – it’s readily available and much better for you. Herbal teas, organic beverages, and smoothies made from real fruit are also good options.

5. Tame the beast. Eat a light meal with protein, healthy fat and some fresh veggies before you head out to do errands. If you eat before you go, you’ll avoid the temptation to eat out and get something much less healthy for you. Plus, you’ll spend a lot less at the grocery store if eating isn’t the first thing you’ll be thinking about!
